The Festival of British Eventing, presented by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), is held at Gatcombe Park the home of HRH The Princess Royal and promises to be a great weekend for the whole family. Many special arena attractions are being planned over the course of the weekend, including Atkinson Action Horses, Shetland Pony Grand National, Dressage Display, Hound Parade and The Pony Club Mounted Games. This year for the first time there will also be Arena Eventing action on the Sunday at 90cm and 100cm; this competition is open to all and will give riders at the grass roots of the sport the opportunity to compete at Gatcombe Park.
The impressive shopping village and Festival Food Walk means there is something for everyone from a new Land Rover to unique rural crafts and beautiful local produce. With the finest Championship horse trials action that one day eventing has to offer taking place over the three days and one of the best courses in the world for viewing the cross country action, there will be no shortage of excitement.
The British Open Championship CIC3*, incorporates the fifth leg of the Event Rider Masters Series (ERM) which sees the very top riders in the sport vying for the British Open and British National Championships as well as the ERM title.
The three other National Championships taking place include The Smith & Williamson British Intermediate Championship, The Dodson & Horrell British Novice Championship and The TopSpec Challenge for The Corinthian Cup, the British Amateur Championship. Finally the Neptune Trophy for Advanced Horses will also give the top riders a chance to run their second horses over the weekend so there will be no shortage of eventing action.
